What we do

We are passionate about stories – human stories and the stories of the Bible, and the places where those stories meet. There has been a Bible Society on this island since 1806, committed to enabling access for all to one of life’s richest repositories of sacred wisdom and greatest literary treasure – the Bible.

We are one of over 150 Bible Societies worldwide who form part of the United Bible Societies global fellowship.

Our heritage of translation and bible dissemination and vision to make Scripture accessible and available to all is one which is surely relevant across the divides of time, politics, economics and culture.

We raise both prayer and financial support for other Bible Societies around the world, supporting Bible translation, production and distribution, literacy work and also Bible engagement and advocacy.

We also support local Bible projects here in Ireland, with the hope that Scripture is accessible and available to all.

The National Bible Society of Ireland is a registered charity, CHY1592.
